2011? 2012? 20??

How can we know if the world will come to an end in 2011?  If the end does not come in 2011, will it come in 2012?  Does the Bible speak specifically to this issue at all?  These are thought provoking questions, but the final one is not hard to answer. Yes, the Bible does speak to this issue quite often and quite clearly.  In fact, the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in His glory is prophesied more often in the Old Testament than is His first coming!  The Bible also tells us that the prophets themselves were very interested in the things they were speaking by God's leading and they wanted very much to know what it was all about themselves, so it is no wonder that people today are interested! But to answer the first two questions is a little different, because the Bible does not give a date of the time that Christ will come to take His church to Heaven to be with Him .  In addition to this, the world as we know it, though many changes would occur if Christ were to come for His church today, would not end for over one thousand years from that point.  How do we know this?  As we've said, the answers, authoritative ones at that, are only to be found in God's Word and the Lord Jesus Himself has said that no man knows the day or hour that the end will come.
