The Greatest Power

The Greatest Power

What is the greatest expression of faith that a believer in Christ could exhibit? As we think about the answer to that question, let's also think for a moment about the fact that we believers are engaged in spiritual warfare that is as real as the fact that you are reading this message right now. This warfare goes on even when we are not aware of it, and it can affect us in ways that will be with us the rest of our lives. This expression of faith we spoke of at the first is also the greatest weapon for good in the spiritual warfare we face! You have very likely already figured out that this greatest expression of faith for a believer is the weapon of prayer! Jesus told His disciples that because He was about to leave them, and would send the Holy Spirit to indwell them, that it was actually good for them because He could then do greater works through them, and by extension, us today than He did while on earth! The fuel for this power is prayer.
In the only model prayer Jesus ever gave, He began by saying Our Father! Real prayer begins with God! If we don't begin with God, we will become even more discouraged and depressed than we were before we prayed. An amazing reality of prayer and the Lord Jesus is that though He is God, He became Man, and while He was here, He depended on God to help Him through prayer just like we do! Just as the devil tried to destroy Jesus, he does so with us, but the good news is that in this, God tests us to strengthen us! Again, the main ingredient in this is faithful prayer. We could go on and on, but we know you understand this essential truth. Yet, even though we understand it, we also need to learn to exercise it, and to learn the Biblical principles of utilizing it properly. A wonderful free resource in this is our BBN Bible Institute and course number 20500, The Value of Prayer taught by Dr. Ray Stedman. Give it a try, and tell a friend!
