It Never Gets Old

It Never Gets Old

During the Christmas season we celebrate the incarnation of our Savior Jesus Christ, and the taking on of sinless human flesh by God Himself, we'd like to think together just for a few moments on some amazing realities that spring from this truth. This account of our Lord’s birth, as with every Scriptural account of this most magnificent event, doesn’t grow old or stale with familiarity, it only becomes more special and precious to the believing heart! One story within the story is the shepherds who were the very first to hear this news of God becoming man for us. In Luke chapter 2, beginning around verse 8, we see that they were simply about their daily task of caring for the needs of their sheep, 24/7, as we would say today. They had the dirty work that no one else wanted. They also may very well have been rough and rugged characters, yet one thing we know about them was they had a childlike faith, in the best sense of that word, in that when they heard the news, they believed it! Compare and contrast this with the reaction of those who should have been the most excited of anyone on earth about this, the religious leaders. Matthew chapter 2 records that though they knew the prophetic Scriptures as to where Christ would be born, which by the way was only a few miles from their homes in Jerusalem, they did not even lift a finger to go and see this most magnificent of events fulfilled in their midst. But these lowly shepherds took the measures necessary to actually go and see God's Word fulfilled. Once they had seen it, they couldn't help but go everywhere they could and tell everyone who would listen about it! What about us? Well, we'll say no more about this except to say that if you would like to study this out in a full and satisfying way, we have a free Bible course on the entire Gospel of Luke, as well as Matthew, where these accounts are found, in courses numbered 33100-33400. The site for this free Bible study is of course our BBN Bible Institute, found at BBNBI.org. Finally, if you would like to receive some practical insight into how to tell the good news of Jesus Christ even better, check out course number 52400, Personal Evangelism. May the Lord bless you this Christmas season from all of us at the Bible Broadcasting Network!
