The Light of Hope

The Light
of
Hope
A terrified family of four was trudging their way in their car, trying to find safety during a horrendous hurricane that had hit the east coast of the United States. They had thought it best to head for the mainland, even though the high winds and heavy rains along with crashing waves had caused the water even on roadways to rise to two feet, and climbing even more. The trip was a familiar one, but with the winds and palm trees blowing through sheets of rain, they could barely see the road. The father of the family was doing his best to guess where the road was, but suddenly the car ran into a ditch and was stuck. Now even their car was filling with water! They then thought it best to abandon the car and begin walking, hoping against hope that they could make it to safety. To add to all this, it was becoming dark. As they walked, with all hope quickly disappearing, the youngest daughter saw what looked like a faint glimmer of light ahead. The whole family soon noticed it and began to walk toward it, thinking it may have represented their only hope. After a long while moving nearer to the tiny light, they began to see that it was a lone candle that was put in a home far enough inland to be safe, and just for the purpose of guiding stranded travelers to safety! Soon, they were in a warm, dry house, safe from the impending storm.
That lone candle would have been nearly impossible to see on a sunny day, but when all was dark and stormy, the light became visible. We may think that as believers, our light will not be noticed, but when all is dark, as our world is spiritually, even a small light is visible, and may lead weary travelers that are about to give up hope, to find a safe and warm place. Jesus Christ is Himself the Light of life, and the Word of God is all about Him. We have literally seen those lost in sin and darkness find eternal hope through the Word of God, and you can be a part of shining your light by telling someone about how they can study God's Word free of charge in the BBN Bible Institute (BBNBI.org). Which by the way, is now nearing 140,000 students, most of which have come to us by word of mouth, when a friend or acquaintance has shared how it has been a light in their world. Shine your light today.
