 Living in Past Pain
Paul said in Philippians 3, "Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before..." and it seems that many of us are stumped at that first part, actually forgetting those things that are in our past. Someone has said each of us has in our past that we dare not tell even our dearest friend, and there are open spiritual and emotional wounds that refuse to heal due to the ball and chain of secrecy that the enemy of our souls uses, seeking to keep us in bondage to them. But there is good news, and part of that good news is that God can actually take open wounds and enable us to begin again. Yet, we often learn the hard way that decisions and activities of the past can poison our lives in the future. Yet, if we want our past to be broken and its negative influence smashed, a good place to begin is to tell God. Another closely related part of the good news in dealing with our past hurts and wounds is to meditate on God's healing Word, and the BBN Bible Institute has an especially helpful resource in which to do this. The Institute is found at BBNBI.org, and Dr. Erwin Lutzer, who also is the Bible teacher on some of the BBN Radio programs, is the teacher of course number 21200, Putting Your Past Behind You. In this course, Dr. Lutzer takes Scripture and applies it to the often sticky problem of our past and the hurts that we take into the present and future and then he helps to see how to overcome them through God's wondrous grace in Jesus Christ. Dr. Lutzer reminds us that even if a scar is left from a wound, it is simply a sign that healing has taken place. If you take this course, or any of the other over 116 free courses and find help, share the good news with your friends.
