Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times
Courage and Hope
in Uncertain Times

Have you ever experienced a time in your life when troubles, issues, grief and fear seemed to be piling up? David in Scripture did. He said all those things were weighing him down plus people were slandering him and he was feeling forgotten by man and God. He writes thoughtfully and powerfully about this in Psalm 31. He said he reached a point in which he reacted rashly in response to God. “Lord,” he said, “I am cut off from your eyes” (v. 22). In other words, why aren’t you watching or doing anything?

David goes on to pour out his heart in prayer and he affirmed, Lord, you really were listening! He then articulates his thankfulness in verse 19 and says, “Great is Thy goodness! “Which means, your goodness is generously stored up and available to me. He finished the chapter with a word of encouragement for you and me: God will strengthen you, give you courage and hope. This is helpful news in these days of change and uncertainty.
