First Things First
|
When was the last time you saw a building resting on thin air? Or when did you ever see a building built on the ground but with no foundation at all? Today’s huge sky-scrapers have awesome foundations that have taken literally years to lay so that the superstructure to be built on that foundation would stand for years to come.
Sometimes we at BBN Bible Institute are asked if there is any reason that the courses are offered in the order that they are. For example, why place Bible Doctrines in the 10000 Division, but wait until the 20000 Division to offer courses concerning Christian Living and Family Studies? Are family studies not as important as Bible doctrine? Of course Family studies, and especially from a Christian perspective, are very important. Yet if these studies are not based on the rock-solid truth of Bible doctrine, they can easily and quickly go astray and lead the student away from the Word of God rather than toward it. Therefore we offer the Doctrinal Studies of the Word of God as the first level of study after the introductory studies and then the Christian Living and Family Studies follow.
The same principle applies to the very study format recommended by the Institute. It is highly recommended that while studying at your computer, you set aside all other distractions and focus on the studies themselves. Even the tests that are to be taken along with the lessons are designed to be taken as an “open Bible test.” This way as you listen the teaching is reinforced to insure that it is learned. The main goal of the BBN Bible Institute is to get the Word of God into the students’ hearts so that the Lord can use it in the lives of many for His glory. Yet before this can happen we must be committed to the study of God’s Holy Word. Then we can be sure that the correct foundation is being built that will last all through eternity!
