Interesting Facts Regarding the Psalms!

Do you know that the key to just about any of the 150 Psalms in the Bible is the first verse of the Psalm?  The remainder of a Psalm never says anything that is not in its first verse!  This and many other great truths are to be discovered about the Book of Psalms in our BBN Bible Institute course number 30800, Selected Psalms taught by Dr. Stanley Collins.  Psalm 27, that great Psalm in which King David says that the Lord is his Light, is the account of David actually stopping and taking account of his life.  Do you know what David concluded after taking stock of his life?  He concluded that his Lord had been extremely good to him!  Also, the time David found this out was during one of the many times of fear and uncertainty of his life.  But, as Dr. Collins truly concludes in this course, "when we are afraid is the time to say that the Lord is the strength of my life!"

Another great Psalm, in fact the favorite of Charles Spurgeon, Psalm 84, conveys the intense longing that King David had to be at the Temple with God's people to worship  Him with them.  One of the powerful lessons that we learn from this tremendous Psalm is that sometimes God allows us to go through deep sorrow so that we can be a blessing to others. Sinning saints may sometimes feel that they have gone too far away from God to ever be useful to Him again, but David chose to refer to God very often as the God of Jacob, and as Dr. Collins says, "If God can be the God of Jacob, He can be the God of anybody!"  We trust you will enjoy this delightful and deeply touching course on the Psalms as you study in the BBN BI. By the way, if you have read this far, you already know the correct answers to 6 questions in the course!  May the Lord bless you as you learn the rest!
