His wisdom and plain-spoken manner reflected his passion for His Saviour and the importance of the proclamation of God's Word.

ERNEST PICKERING was a pastor; author of numerous articles and books; a college administrator; and mission board representative. After he experienced a recurrence of cancer near his brain, the radiation used to treat the cancer caused him to become totally blind in 1996. Assisted by his wife, Dr. Pickering continued to preach without notes until the progress of the disease made continuation of his ministry impossible. He passed away in 2000.

WALTER WILSON was an American medical doctor, salesman, businessman, preacher and soul-winner. He recorded many of his remarkable experiences in a series of books to instruct and encourage others in the great work of spreading the gospel. Dr. Wilson was saved at the age of 15 and the following year, began holding evangelistic street meetings. Although never ordained, he led many to put their trust in Jesus, winning his audience with wit and homely stories. Walter Wilson passed away in 1969 at the age of 88.

MARK LEE was a popular Bible conference speaker who dealt with issues pertaining to the Christian home. He was President Emeritus of Simpson College and an author with Regal Books.

SAM DALTON entered full-time evangelism in 1966 and continued this work for nearly 40 years. He was saved out of a life of gambling and was used of the Lord in preaching in churches, Bible conferences and rescue missions. Sam Dalton's testimony has been featured on the Unshackled broadcast, which is produced by the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. Sam Dalton passed away a few years ago.

Dr. Arnold pastored churches in Canada and Virginia, including Denbigh Baptist Church in Newport News, where he served for many years.

DAVID GIBBS is founder and president of the Christian Law Association, which is a ministry of legal helps. It has provided free legal assistance to Bible-believing churches and Christians since 1969. DONALD BARNHOUSE pastored the Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia for 33 years. Dr. Barnhouse was the speaker on the Bible Study Hour program as well as editor of Eternity magazine. He was renowned as a Bible expositor and teacher, and was recognized as one of America's great preachers and conference speakers. Dr. Barnhouse passed away in 1960.

ALAN FLEECE served as the second president of Columbia International University (then Columbia Bible College) from 1953-1966. Before becoming president of CIU, Dr. Fleece served as a professor at the college during two separate periods beginning in 1938. In between those periods he taught at Moody Bible Institute, and then pastored a church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Following his years at the college, Alan Fleece entered a traveling preaching ministry in Bible conferences overseas.

LORNE SANNY joined the Navigators, a world-wide Christian ministry, while attending the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. Sanny served as president and general director of the ministry for 30 years. Following his tenure with the Navigators, Lorne Sanny continued to be a mentor to Christian businessmen and was an active participant in his local church until his death in 2005. He was 84.

Russell Kelfer was an elder and Bible teacher at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas, for more than 20 years and headed up Discipleship Tape Ministries. During his lifetime, he was an active business man in a wide variety of Christian projects. Russell Kelfer produced a wealth of helpful materials for spiritual growth as well as practical application Bible studies on living the Christian life. He passed away in 2000.

Stanley Collins was born in Scotland and served as pastor for many years. He also served as the Director of the Forest Home Christian Conference Center in southern California. Just before retirement, Dr. Collins served as chaplain for the Conference Center. Although small in stature, he was known as a giant in the pulpit and was well-loved for his genuine interest in each person he met. Dr. Collins is now with the Lord.

He also was Vice President of Scripture Press in Wheaton, Illinois. In 1962 Dr. Cook accepted the Presidency of The King's College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. During his twenty-three years as president, he started "The King's Hour" radio broadcast. Dr. Cook retired from the Presidency in 1985, and was Chancellor of the college until his death in 1991.

Vance Havner pastored in North and South Carolina and became a full-time evangelist in the 1930's. He went home to be with the Lord in 1986 at the age of 84.

Harold Wildish was born in England in 1903 and was converted to Christ at the age of 12. Six years later, he preached his first message to a group of late night English drinkers. In 1925, Mr Wildish sailed to the Amazon with 35 dollars and a heart full of faith. Years later, malaria forced him to leave the Amazon and head to the West Indies. Harold Wildish spent the rest of his life in Jamaica as a missionary for the Plymouth Brethren. He passed away in 1982.

James Stewart was born in Scotland. Immediately after receiving Christ at age 14, he began to preach the Gospel and became known as "The Boy Preacher". Dr. Stewart was used in a mighty revival throughout Eastern Europe just prior to World War II. He founded Revival Literature which publishes his extensive writings on the subject of true revival and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

W.A. Criswell was born in Eldorado, Oklahoma in 1909. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 10 and held student pastorates during his college studies at Baylor University. Called to Dallas' First Baptist Church in 1944, Dr. Criswell retired as senior pastor in 1995 after half a century of service to that church. He was called home to glory in 2002.

George Sweeting has served at the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago for over 30 years, first as President and then as Chancellor. John Hunter was born in Liverpool in 1909. He trained as a teacher but often took the time to preach the Gospel in nearby towns, traveling the 20 or 30 miles on his bicycle. John Hunter continued his teaching career until 1960, at which time he stepped out on faith and became a missionary. Dr. Hunter wrote more than 20 books as well as adult Sunday school lessons. He traveled the world teaching and preaching in Bible Conferences until early in 1994, at which time he suffered a stroke. John Hunter went to be with the Lord in 2005 at the age of 96.

CONFERENCE PULPIT/ JANUARY 2014

Theodore Epp began his ministry as a pastor in Oklahoma, where he received his first taste of radio preaching. Mr. Epp moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to establish the Back to the Bible Broadcast. That was May 1, 1939. Dr. Epp served as General Director for the broadcast until 1984. He continued to serve the ministry as well as perform other speaking engagements until his death the next year. Theodore Epp was known for his quiet, but thorough teaching of the Word.

Stephen Davey is the senior pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina and President of Shepherds Theological Seminary. Carl Armerding was born in 1883 in New Jersey. As a young man, he served as a missionary in Honduras and the British West Indies. Later on as he returned to the U.S., Carl Armerding served on the North American Council of China Inland Mission. He also taught at Moody Bible Institute and Wheaton College. Mr. Armerding spoke at many Bible conferences and wrote several books.

John Whitcomb is credited with being one of the "Fathers of the Modern Creationist Movement." He has been a respected theologian and Bible scholar for more than 60 years.
Dr. Whitcomb taught at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, for nearly 40 years. Currently, he not only serves as president of Whitcomb Ministries but he is also the founder and professor for the Christian Workman Schools of Theology.

Ray Stedman was a long-time pastor of Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California, and author of several books. He was one of the twentieth century's foremost pastors and biblical expositors. Jack Hudson was born in 1922 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a race car driver during his younger years. At the age of 27, Jack Hudson and his wife were led to Christ and he surrendered to the ministry. Dr. Hudson established the Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. in 1954, which was founded on Jeremiah 33:3. Over the next 36 years, Jack Hudson "made much of Jesus", in spite of severe pain and constant suffering. The Lord called him home in 1990.

25...Handel's Messiah is one of the greatest works of it's kind ever written by man. It was composed in the incredibly short span of 24 days in 1741. Handel used as his text certain passages selected from the Bible. Incidentally, the correct title of the oratorio is simply "Messiah".

BBN will feature Part 1 of the Messiah, which contains the prophecy and narrative of the Nativity. The performance will end with the opening and closing chorus of Part 2; the closing being the familiar "Hallelujah Chorus". Music is provided by the Toronto Symphony and Chorus. Curtis Hutson was an Independent Baptist pastor, dynamic evangelist and editor of the Sword of the Lord, an independent Christian publication, for 15 years. Dr. Hutson's messages are from his years of ministry at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta. He passed away in 1995 at the age of 60.

Theodore Epp began his ministry as a pastor in Oklahoma, where he received his first taste of radio preaching. Mr. Epp moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to establish the Back to the Bible Broadcast. That was May 1, 1939. Dr. Epp served as General Director for the broadcast until 1984. He continued to serve the ministry as well as perform other speaking engagements until his death the next year. Theodore Epp was known for his quiet, but thorough teaching of the Word.
