Most Important Discovery

A young man desperately wanted to know how to have his sins forgiven due to the crushing weight of the realization of his sinfulness in the sight of God. This young man went to church after church seeking the answer to his dilemma, yet unfortunately, according to his own testimony, though every one of the churches he attended taught good truths, the one most important one, how to be right with God, he did not find. One very snowy Sunday, however, as he was seeking to attend a certain church, he could not make it because the weather was so bad, but he did notice a very small chapel on the way and entered it instead. As the weather was so bad that day, very few people made it to worship, even the preacher himself was unable to be there! An elder who was unlearned got up in the preacher’s absence and spoke a few words that day, but God used those words from His Word to point that young man to Christ, and he left with the joy of the Lord in his heart! That young man’s name by the way was Charles Spurgeon, who went on to become known as the Prince of Preachers and pointed many hundreds and likely thousands of lost souls to Christ as well.

Another young man also wanted to know the joy of sins forgiven and fellowship with God, but he belonged to a church that believed religion was for adults and not children, so he went many years without God in his life due to this erroneous belief. When he was 20 years old, after he had nearly given up hope of ever finding salvation, he did receive Christ as his Savior, and he was so thankful that with the help of two other men, he founded an organization that focuses on the evangelization and Christian growth of children.

Obviously, coming to Christ is the most important thing that could happen to anyone at any age, but the younger, studies have consistently revealed, are more likely to come to Christ than one that has not received Him until later in life.
