No Better News
Roy found himself at a train station in Vienna after two weeks of illness in another village. He had spent all of his money on doctor bills and had just enough left to get to Vienna in hopes of connecting with some friends. A kind, white haired lady who was the janitor at the station must have noticed his tiredness and hunger, and asked him if he had had lunch. She took out a brown paper bag and shared her lunch with him. As they ate she told how she and her daughter were alone in the city since her husband and two sons had died in the Resistance, but they had much for which to be thankful. Roy was impressed with her unassuming manner and her kind and generous heart. He had to know why she had shared her lunch with a stranger. She thoughtfully replied in her simple German: “Jesus is my Lord; God is good.”
There are some that cross our paths that are in need of a kind deed or a thoughtful word. Many are passing by us who are hurting and are emotionally spent or spiritually bankrupt. How long has it been since you shared with another that Jesus is your Lord and that God is good? Solomon, the sage of Old Testament poetry wrote, “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” Perhaps a friend or acquaintance of yours would find it good news to hear of BBN radio and the Bible Institute available to them online. Certainly there is no better good news than that of Jesus, the risen Savior, delighting in forgiving sins and setting people free from its bondage.
