Deep in the Hearts of Many
Likely most, if not all, of us remember what we were doing when the tragedy of September 11, 2001, struck. It seems that events such as that one have a way of searing the moment into the fabric of our hearts so that the events surrounding it are almost impossible to remove. Even the details of our lives at that moment come back into sharp focus when reminders of it occur, especially such as the fact that this year it also falls on Tuesday. We also recall that for a time, it seemed, the entire U.S. and even much of the world began to focus on the things of God following this tragedy, even members of Congress that have often repudiated the thought of God were openly calling on Him and even singing hymns! But, unfortunately, as with so many tragedies, after the initial shock and fears begin to subside, so does the religious fervor that come with them. Yet, deep in the hearts of many, those same fears reside, though dormant, they remain there nonetheless until another tragedy stirs them up. What do we do with them, how do we deal with them on a permanent basis? Those of us who know God also have fears that reside within our hearts; it is a natural reaction, but what we do with them is the most important matter. The Word of God has much to say concerning this concept of fear. In fact, the command of God to His own most that is most often recorded in the pages of His Word is the command to fear not! Sometimes there are other reactions and emotions that accompany fear, such as anger, uncertainty, and such like. What do we do with these? Again, the Word of God has the answer. Our strength is only as strong as the One on whom we lean! Therefore, the One on whom we must lean in times of fear and uncertainty is the One who loved us enough to give His very life for us on the cross. Of course we are referring to our Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord. The BBN Bible Institute offers over 100 free Bible courses online. Two courses in particular that may be helpful to anyone who may be thinking about the things of God at this time in which we remember the tragedy of the original 9-11: number 51600, The Signs of the Times, taught by Dr. Charles Wagner, or number 50200, Some Problems We Face, taught by Dr. Dwight Pentecost. The answer to all our needs are found in the Word of God, and you may study free of charge at www.BBNBI.org. Be sure to check it out and tell a friend.
