Only One Gospel

Only One Gospel

As often is the case with six year old boys, I heard my Dad say that he would not be picking me up that afternoon from Vacation Bible School, and that I was to ride the bus home, but because I had my mind more on playing the game I was focused on at the time, I didn’t really pay attention to him. So, that afternoon, as the other kids were getting on the bus to go home, I stayed, waiting for my Dad to come by in his black 1949 Chevrolet and take me home as usual as he went home for lunch. I loved riding in that car! Sometimes he’d let me hold the wheel as he drove, letting me think I was driving! So, our times together were great fun, yet that day he had errands and I was to ride the bus. Evidently, my dad had also mentioned this to our minister of education who was also the bus driver, since he asked me multiple times if I wasn’t supposed to ride the bus home, and I confidently affirmed that my Dad would be there. So, he left with all the other kids, and I waited, and waited, and waited, what to my young mind seemed hours, though it was likely only 45 minutes to an hour. By this time I was the only one left on the entire church campus, and to me it seemed that I was all alone in the whole world! I began to pace back and forth, honestly fearing in my six year old mind that I’d never see my family again! Not long afterwards, our bus driver returned, and seeing me still there, he offered to take me home in his car, which I was all-too-happy to do! In a few short minutes I was home, my worried parents were thankful to see me, the confusion was settled and all was back to normal.

This now amusing story is illustrative of a much more serious and not at all amusing reality of another confused situation concerning the eternal destiny of people. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe. Yet, if someone believes a false gospel, it will not save. Paul even went so far as to pronounce a curse on anyone who preaches any other Gospel than the one he and the apostles preached! See Galatians 1:6-9 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 concerning this. This being true, in our free Bible Institute, www.bbnbi.org, we offer as one of our introductory courses, Understanding the Gospel, number 00400 so as to ensure that the genuine saving Gospel of Jesus Christ is understood and believed. Our loving God wants all to know the truth and come to a saving knowledge of His Son who gave His all that we might know Him.
