Since the beginning in June of 2006, there have been 38 students who have completed all the courses in the BBN Bible Institute and have received their Diploma of Biblical Studies. Recently another student finished that tremendous accomplishment as he took all 102 Bible courses that we offer in English.
Our congratulations go out to Changwhoa-Oum Oum who finished the last course to complete his studies on October 13, 2007 at 4:10AM. The amazing fact is he did it all in just over 5 months of study. That’s almost 650 hours of Bible in just 150 days.
Mr. Oum, a retired Middle school principal in Korea, would begin studying a course and by taking about one hour for each lesson, he would finish it in the same day. For example if the course had six lessons, he would finish it around 6 hours later. Some of the longer courses took a week or so to complete, but regardless of the length of the course or number of the lessons, he worked until he had successfully finished them all.
As I reviewed the accomplishment of this special student I was reminded of this truth; it takes a real commitment to finish a task. One must apply himself, bear the burdens, and carry on to the end.
We are living in a day of little commitment. If the job is harder than we expected or the task takes longer than we want to take, many are tempted to quit before they ever accomplish the goal. Have you ever known someone who planned to read through the entire Bible in a year but became uninterested soon after they began? I have.
The apostle Paul mentioned “finishing the course” in 2 Timothy 4:7 as he spoke of completing his life as he had committed himself for the service of Christ. I trust that all who start their studies here in BBNBI will continue and be committed to finish well.
