25- Oratorio: Handel's Messiah, was composed in the incredibly short span of 24 days in 1741 . Handel used as his text certain passages selected from the Bible and arranged by a clergyman named Pooley. Tonight, we will hear Part 1 of the Messiah, which contains the prophecy and narrative of the Nativity. We will end tonight's performance with the opening and closing chorus of Part 2; the closing being the familiar "Hallelujah Chorus". The music is performed by the Toronto Symphony and Chorus.
