October 29 - November 25          Eric Liddell

Eric Liddell was an Olympic Athlete and Christian Missionary. Born in China on January 16, 1902, to Scottish missionary parents, he is known to most of us for his unwavering Christian convictions during the Olympic games as portrayed in the movie "Chariots of Fire". This story is written by Catherine Swift.
October 9 - October 28           Adoniram Judson: Missionary to Burma

This is the story of America's first foreign missionary. Adoniram Judson (1788-1850)  spent 38 years in Burma- now known as Myanmar. He was not only a missionary, but also a preacher, writer and composer of 2 hymns.

August 25 - October 2            Champion of Freedom

This is a compelling biographical novel of abolitionist and author Harriet Beecher Stowe. The story is written by Charles Ludwig and used by permission of Bethany House, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
August 5 - August 24            The Indomitable Mr. O

Jesse Irvin Overholtzer grew up in a religious family and at the age of 12, was convicted of his own sin and sought counsel from his mother. He was told he was too young. It wasn't until Overholtzer was in college that he heard the Gospel and trusted Christ as his Saviour. Later as a pastor, he realized children can be saved while he was reading one of Charles Spurgeon's sermons and searching the Scriptures. In 1937, at the age of 60, Mr. Overholtzer began the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship, Inc.

This book is written by Norman Rohrer.
June 26 - August 4                      Loves Comes Softly

A recently-widowed pioneer woman named Marty is forced into an initially loveless marriage of convenience in order to provide for her unborn child. Marty's powerful journey discovering her faith through the loving qualities of patience, trust and acceptance brings to life timeless themes of hardship, compromise, grief and hope. Though set against the backdrop of the pioneer West, her story resonates equally in today's world.

For Marty, uniting her new family in love wouldn't have been possible without a growing faith in God.
April 24 - June 25         The Maiden's Bequest

George MacDonald's genius as a storyteller is seen once again in this moving, inspiring story of Alec Forbes and his friend Annie. George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish poet, preacher and novelist. Drawn to the pulpit early, MacDonald eventually left to pursue his writing and became one of the most popular authors of his day. MacDonald's fiction combined his immense spiritual understanding with his innate storytelling ability. His works had a great influence on C.S. Lewis and others.
March 27 - April 23       And The Word Came With Power

This is a great example of what God can do with a person who surrenders her life to Him! It gives the 20 year story of how Joanne Shetler gave of herself to move far away and live among the Balangao people group in the Philippines. This story tells many of her adventures along the journey. She gives account of learning the culture and language, the trials and hardships of dealing with a culture that succumbs to evil spirits, and onto the completion of God's plan for these wonderful people.
February 5 - March 26             New Graft on the Family Tree

Louise, newly married to Lewis, doesn't fit in with her new in-laws. How will she ever be able to share God's love with them? Tune in and found out in this story by Isabella Macdonald Alden.
January 1 - February 4            Holy War

In Ethel Barrett's retelling of John Bunyan's Holy War, the battle for mansoul will fill you with wonder at how little you really love God- and how much God loves you. Ethel Barrett was a prolific Christian writer, speaker and storyteller for over 30 years.

Ethel started her storytelling career as a Sunday school teacher in the early 1940's. She was asked to teach the Boys Brigade class, made up of the most unruly boys in the area. She had so much trouble keeping their attention that she began telling Bible stories using character voices and full dialog to capture their attention. That Sunday School class became a great success for God and her storytelling talent landed her some weekend radio jobs where she would tell Bible stories on her local Christian radio stations.
November 14 - December 31, 2008          The Persecutor

We will end the year with the amazing autobiography of a former Soviet agent. The Persecutor is written by Sergei Kourdakov and published by Spire Books, a division of the Fleming H. Revell Company. (1973)
