WALTER MARTIN was a recognized authority on religions having their origins in the United States. He was the Founder and President of the Christian Research Institute. Walter Martin pioneered the development of seminars dealing with cults and the problems of secularism in education. Dr. Martin was an excellent resource on Christian apologetics, having authored 12 books and scores of articles and tracts. Walter Martin went home to Glory in 1989.

JOHN HUNTER was born in Liverpool in 1909. He trained as a teacher but often took the time to preach the Gospel in nearby towns, traveling the 20 or 30 miles on his bicycle. John Hunter continued his teaching career until 1960, at which time he stepped out on faith and became a missionary. Dr. Hunter wrote more than 20 books as well as adult Sunday school lessons. He traveled the world teaching and preaching in Bible Conferences until early in 1994, at which time he suffered a stroke. John Hunter went to be with the Lord in 2005 at the age of 96.

W.A. (WALLIE AMOS) CRISWELL was born in Eldorado, Oklahoma in 1909. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 10 and held student pastorates during his college studies at Baylor University. Called to Dallas' First Baptist Church in 1944, Dr. Criswell retired as senior pastor in 1995 after half a century of service to that church. He was called home to glory in 2002 at the age of 92.

EDDIE LIEBERMAN converted to Christianity from Judaism. Shortly after accepting Christ, he studied clinical psychology and earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Tennessee. In the 1940s, Mr. Lieberman took time off from his private practice at which time God called him to ministry. He served as a pastor in churches in Alabama and South Carolina. Ultimately, he would serve as an itinerant evangelist and a pastor for more than 70 years. Eddie Lieberman passed away in 2006 at the age of 93.

25- ORATORIO: HANDEL'S MESSIAH is one of the greatest works of it's kind ever written by man. It was composed in the incredibly short span of 24 days in 1741. Handel used as his text certain passages selected from the Bible.
BBN will feature Part 1 of the Messiah, which contains the prophecy and narrative of the Nativity. The performance will end with the opening and closing chorus of Part 2; the closing being the familiar "Hallelujah Chorus". Music is provided by the Toronto Symphony and Chorus. JOHN R. RICE was born in poverty in Texas in 1895. He professed his faith in Christ at the age of 12 and was attending graduate school and volunteering at the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago when he was called to full-time ministry in 1926. Eight years later, Dr. Rice began "The Sword of the Lord", a fundamental weekly newspaper of Bible studies, sermons and devotional readings emphasizing soul-winning. He was editor of the paper for 46 years and wrote more than 200 books. Dr. John R. Rice passed away in 1980 at the age of 85.

WALTER WILSON was an American medical doctor, salesman, businessman, preacher and soul-winner. He recorded many of his remarkable experiences in a series of books to instruct and encourage others in the great work of spreading the gospel. Dr. Wilson was saved at the age of 15 and the following year, began holding evangelistic street meetings. He led many to Christ, winning his audience with wit and homely stories. Walter Wilson passed away in 1969 at the age of 88.

JOHN WALVOORD was the Professor of Systematic Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary for over 50 years. He also served as the President of the seminary for 33 years. In 1986, Dr. Walvoord became Chancellor until 2001, when he retired. John Walvoord wrote and published more than 30 books. He was recognized worldwide as a leader in conservative Biblical scholarship. Dr. Walvoord passed away in 2002 at the age of 92.

IAN THOMAS was the Founder and International Director of Torchbearers of the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship. With the intention of becoming a missionary in Africa, he studied medicine at London University for 2 years. At age 19, God called Ian Thomas into an evangelistic and Bible teaching ministry which has spread around the world, in the utilization of Bible schools and conference centers. Ian Thomas passed away in 2007.

A.W. TOZER was saved at the age of 17. Throughout his life and ministry, Dr. Tozer called believers to return to a biblical position of deep faith and holiness. Tozer died in 1963, his life and spiritual legacy continues to draw many into a deeper knowledge of God.

DOUGLAS WHITLEY grew up in North Carolina and came to know Christ as Savior at an early age.
He got involved in Christian drama in high school and noted the opportunity to reach souls for Christ. After many life experiences, he began presenting "Preachers of the Past" in 1990 as a full time ministry. Mr. Whitley holds a B.A. in speech and a M.A. in dramatic production. He has appeared in three Christian films and various radio programs and is the author of eight Christian plays. Every character presentation has a strong Gospel message and a challenge to personal Christian growth.

5- GEORGE MEULLER was a drunkard, a cheat and a seminary student when he found Jesus Christ. God took him from the beer halls to the halls of an orphanage in total dependence.
6- D.L. MOODY didn't attend school beyond the fifth grade; he couldn't spell, and his grammar was awful. This is his testimony from his salvation to the night of the great Chicago fire.
7- HUDSON TAYLOR was a man of faith. This is the testimony of this pioneer missionary for the China Inland Mission.
8- C.H. SPURGEON was known as the Prince of Preachers. This is a sermon of Spurgeon's with a brief biography of this great preacher.

RICHARD CLEARWATERS was called as pastor of the Fourth Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1940. In 1956 he founded Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis and served as its President for many years. He also founded Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in 1957. Dr. Clearwaters was a graduate of Moody Bible institute and has authored hundreds of Biblical treatises, pamphlets and books.

MONROE PARKER was an evangelist and an administrator at Bob Jones University. Besides conducting hundreds of evangelistic campaigns and preaching in scores of high schools, colleges and Bible institutes, Dr. Parker taught in Bible colleges and seminaries. He played an important role in organizing local churches to serve the Lord together in Minnesota and Alabama. Monroe Parker was also instrumental in organizing the Christian Dells Bible Camp and Conference Grounds near Decatur, Alabama. Dr. Parker passed away in 1994 at the age of 85.

LEHMAN STRAUSS taught Old Testament history at Philadelphia Bible Institute, and pastored churches in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Dr. Strauss was residing in Florida and writing his 19th book at age 86 when the Lord called him home in 1997. Vernon McGee began teaching Through the Bible in 1967, which continues to be heard daily on BBN and in more than 100 languages around the world. Dr. McGee passed away in 1988 at the age of 84.

13- RON COMFORT was saved in a city-wide crusade in Asheville, North Carolina, as a teenager and was called to preach. 14- LEE ROBERSON served as a pastor, preacher, educator and evangelist for more than 65 years. His legacy as a mighty man of God began in 1942 when he was called to be the pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For 40 years and 6 months (1942-1983), Dr. Roberson invested himself wholly in the ministry of the church. During his tenure as pastor, more than 61,000 people professed faith in Jesus and followed Him in believer’s Baptism. In 1946, Lee Roberson founded Tennessee Temple Schools which trained thousands of pastors, missionaries and Christian workers now serving in churches and ministries worldwide. 15- BILLY MARTIN spent thirty years in the pastorate, enjoyed a blessed ministry with college students, and had rewarding opportunities to serve in evangelistic campaigns and conferences. One unique aspect of Dr. Martin’s ministry has been the opportunity to conduct over one hundred and fifty revivals and conferences in churches in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area. He is now serving in his thirty-first year in full time evangelism and conference ministries, with the burden of getting the gospel to the lost, edifying and encouraging believers, challenging churches for missions, and providing resources for pastors in the area of prayer and ministry. 16- ERWIN LUTZER has been Senior Pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago since 1980. He was born and reared in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is an award-winning author of more than twenty books, an international conference speaker, and the featured speaker on three radio programs: The Moody Church Hour, Songs in the Night, and Running to Win. These programs are heard on BBN each day. Dr. Lutzer is also active in Bible conference ministry and has led tours of the sites of the Protestant Reformation in Europe. 20- ALAN REDPATH was born in the United Kingdom in 1907. He trained as an accountant, but soon felt the call to preach, and became an evangelist. Dr. Redpath is best known as a former Pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago, serving from 1953 to 1962. In 1966, Alan Redpath began an itinerant conference and missionary ministry, in which he labored for the Lord for many years. Dr. Redpath passed away in 1989 in Birmingham, England. In order for there to be genuine revival, ALAN REDPATH GIVES ATTENTION TO THE "RELATIONSHIP WHICH MUST BE RESTORED."

21- CHUCK SWINDOLL has devoted his life to the accurate, practical teaching and application of God’s Word and His grace. A pastor at heart, Chuck Swindoll has served as senior pastor to congregations in Texas, Massachusetts, and California. Since 1998, he has served as the founder and senior pastor-teacher of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, but his listening audience extends far beyond a local church body. As a leading program in Christian broadcasting since 1979, Insight for Living airs in major Christian radio markets around the world. Dr. Swindoll's extensive writing ministry has also served the body of Christ worldwide and his leadership as president and now chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary has helped prepare and equip a new generation for ministry. Chuck Swindoll focuses upon horizontal forgiveness in "RECONCILIATION".

22- LARRY MCGUILL was educated at Wheaton College, the Moody Bible Institute and was an Ordained Minister and Evangelist. Reverend McGuill had a lifelong association with Word Of Life and The Pocket Testament League. Larry's ministry included conducting evangelism crusades and witnessing seminars as well as pastoring several churches. He was involved in "Operation Campus", a ministry challenging young people in Christian schools to commit their lives wholly to the Lord and then to actively share their faith. Larry McGuill passed away in 2003 at the age of 85. He takes us back to the book of Nehemiah for the "REBUILDING OF THE GATE".

23- LOUIS TALBOT was born in 1889, in Sydney, Australia, of parents who had migrated from England. Saved at the age of 20, he attended Moody Bible Institute, where he graduated in 1913. Dr. Talbot pastored several churches and began a radio ministry in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was to continue for 35 years. His last pastorate was with the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. This was the beginning of his relationship with the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA), which continued for the reminder of his life as he served as president and Chancellor. Dr. Talbot passed away in 1976. His legacy continues through the Talbot School of Theology, which is known for its conservative evangelical theology. Dr. Talbot "REAFFIRMS THE FAITH".

24- ELWYN DAVIES was for many years the General Director of the Bible Christian Union. Born in Wales and saved at an early age, Dr. Davies felt a call to missionary service and attended Bible college and spent two years in evangelism in his native country. He served in the armed forces during World War II in Africa, the Middle East and Southern Europe. At the conclusion of the war, he and his wife resumed their Christian ministry as missionaries of the Bible Christian Union in Holland. He was a well-known Bible Conference and Missions Conference speaker. Dr. Davies brings a call for personal revival from God's message to "PURGE YOURSELF".

25- RON COMFORT was saved in a city-wide crusade in Asheville, North Carolina, as a teenager and was called to preach. He has been involved in full-time evangelism since 1961, holding more than 1400 crusades. In 1989, God used Dr. Comfort to establish Ambassador Baptist College, a preacher-training college in Shelby, North Carolina. He served as its president for twenty years and continues to serve as the Chancellor. Dr. Comfort’s ministry has been characterized through the years by the abundant use of Scripture. He instructs us on the "DOCTRINE OF CONFESSION".

ROBERT SHELTON graduated from Bob Jones University and served as a missionary with his wife for many years in the Far East. Since 1974, Dr. Shelton has been in a full-time ministry of evangelism and Bible conferences, traveling throughout the country and in many distant lands.

TOM TAYLOR was the retired Emeritus Associate Professor of Church History and Old Testament at Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. BRUCE DUNN was born in Toronto, Canada, and was saved in his senior year of high school. He came to America for his college and seminary education. Dr. Dunn became senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois in 1950, where he served for over 40 years. He was best known for his weekly half-hour radio broadcast, The Grace Worship Hour, a worldwide radio outreach ministry. Dr. Dunn passed away in 1993.

J.B. BUFFINGTON was a B-17 pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was called to preach following the war and in 1963, he began his pastorate at Calvary Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. Dr. Buffington resigned in 1993 but continued an active schedule of Bible, Missions, and Evangelism Conferences in churches and colleges as his health allowed. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 86.

HENRY BRANDT earned a doctorate from Cornell University in marriage and family relations and had the ability to provide insight into the subject of the family from a biblical perspective. For more than five decades, Dr. Brandt served the Lord as a pioneer in biblical counseling. He was a trusted adviser to Christian ministries, a popular conference speaker, and a widely read author. Henry Brandt passed away in 2008 at the age of 92.

DAVE BREESE was saved as a teenager in Chicago. Dave founded the ministry of Christian Destiny in 1963 and was influencial in the establishment of the AWANA Youth Association. He was heard on several radio broadcasts during his career. Dave Breese was a popular speaker at churches, Bible conferences, universities and evangelistic meetings. The Lord called him home to Heaven in 2002 at the age of 75.

LOUIS PAUL LEHMAN pastored in Grand Rapids, Michigan as well as in California. He retired from full time ministry in 1984 and passed away in 1986 at the age of 72.
