 That Name!
When my Mom and Dad first met, and they were getting to know one another, my Mom asked my Dad what his last name was, and he of course said that it was Wyatt (our family name) and her response was, "oh, don’t you mean White?" We’ve always laughed at that, but it does remind us that knowing a person’s name helps us feel as though we are beginning to know them better. We often see in Scripture, God and His Name referred to as one, and in 1 John 5:13 this is seen as a basis of the assurance of our salvation! John says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” This serves to substantiate our faith since it refers to the pristine character of our Savior and our believing His promise to us.
