Making Sense of Troubles and Trials
Making Sense of
Troubles and Trials

Have you ever felt that God was calling you to do something that you weren’t sure you could or even wanted to do? Yet after wrestling with the situation you decided to trust the Lord and follow His will only to find strong opposition and discouragement? No doubt we all have, and we see this in Scripture and probably as clear as anywhere in the life of Moses. God definitely called him to lead His people out of their 400-plus year Egyptian bondage, yet after trying every excuse not to go, he went with Aaron as his spokesman, and we all know the result! Not only did Pharaoh not let the people go free, he made their lives even harder! How are we believers supposed to reconcile this with God being good and gracious? When we look at God’s desired goal in it all as recorded in Deuteronomy chapter 8, it makes perfect sense. In verse 16, Moses wrote, “Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that He might humble thee, and that He might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end…”

We have an excellent course in our Bible Institute that may also shed light on the trials we face as believers, God’s Discipline For Living. If you find it helpful, please tell a friend!
