Those Little Things
Recently a friend wrote. “Little by little, some Christians are growing a little careless. On Sunday mornings they sleep a little late and come to church a little tardy. Some doze a little, listen a little to the sermon and give a little in the offering. After dismissal, they argue a little, gossip a little, and go home and forget what little they heard, and act a little as if they care little for the greatest, grandest, holiest, and most precious privilege on earth- that of worshiping and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. I may have exaggerated a little, but very little, and in some things I may have omitted a little...
Little by little we can improve a little by putting forth a little effort in seeking to overcome a little evil. Little evils do not remain little. So a little thought given to little things may produce a little improvement in a little time.” I thought this was a quaint way to remind us that little things do make a difference. Little habits can become huge hang-ups or helpful routines. Little changes can make big differences good and bad.” Little changes can lead to ruinous compromises or to changed lives.
The Bible has something to say about little things.
Yet a little while and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
O ye of little faith.
... Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little...
... A little leaven leavens the whole lump? (A little evil can affect the whole) For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
The prophet Isaiah preached to his people: “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” This concept from the Spirit of God is still valid for you and me today. We are to learn God’s word little by little; each truth and concept builds upon another. This is what BBN Bible Institute is all about. We offer to you the opportunity to learn and grow in your knowledge of the Scriptures, thereby preparing you to better serve your Lord.
We have a few recommendations for those who may be looking for a little Bible study. 10600 Doctrine Of The New Birth; 20900 Living By The Spirit; 32500 Life Changing Truths From John's Gospel; 40600 David. These have only 3 lessons per course. Perhaps you or someone you know could use a short course to whet the appetite for a larger, more challenging course. Any one of these would be a good place to begin a study in God’s word. As one song writer penned, “Little is much when God is in it.”
