About Numbers?

Does God care about numbers? Someone has jokingly said that He cares so much about numbers that He named a book of the Bible by that very name!  Obviously we know this is just a funny thought, but we do have real evidence in His word that God cares about the number of those who are His and that there be as many as possible.  It is true that there will be many that will not be in Heaven with God, but that is not God's fault.  He is not about the business of keeping people out of Heaven, but just the opposite; He is all about getting people into Heaven!  The verse that probably more people have at least heard of than any other verse is the beloved John 3:16, which tells us the Gospel story in short. The truth is that God created us in love, and even though we rejected Him, His love never abated, and the entire Bible is the beautiful, true story of God's working to save His people and have them with Him for all eternity.  

One final thing about God and numbers, we know that each number represents an eternal soul God has created and loves and whom He wants to belong to Him.  One of the most interesting and revealing Books in the entire Bible of the loving heart of God is the Book of Jonah.  In the very last verse of that Book, we see that God is concerned even for the wicked sinners of Nineveh, and there were over 120,000 of them!  Now, that number ought to catch the attention of anyone who is familiar with the BBN Bible Institute, since we have as of this minute, 120,627 students actively studying God's Word from nearly 175 countries!
